Have Questions about your upcoming fishing trip?

  • Do I Need A Fishing License?
Resident and nonresident recreational fishermen age 16 or older must have a Basic Fishing License and Saltwater License.
Louisiana has many areas where fresh and saltwater species coexist.
The best practice is to purchase the additional saltwater license if fishing in south Louisiana.

The following individuals are not required to have licenses:
    - Residents and nonresidents under 16
    - Residents born before June 1, 1940, who have lived in Louisiana for 6 months

Preferred License: A $10 Charter Passenger License allows fishing in saltwater areas from a charter vessel for 3 consecutive days.

Purchase a Louisiana fishing license here.
More information from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries.
